Born in Cambodia, Chef Mardy Ra developed his distinct palate with various cuisines found in the former French colony. Made up of a tapestry of cuisines, Phnom Penh’s food scene is comprised of cultural flavours, including Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, Cambodian and French dishes.
With a passion and curiosity for the culinary arts, he began his training in Vancouver at the reputable Vancouver Community College and further honed his skills abroad at a number of fine establishments, including Diva at the Met and the prestigious Park Hyatt in Melbourne, Australia.
Shortly after returning to Canada, Chef Mardy Ra accumulated experience around the city working for catering services before his eventual promotion to Executive Chef at the respectable Pacific Yacht Charters. Over the course of four years, he and his team were responsible for catering to many beautiful dinners and events, such as weddings, corporate conferences, birthday parties, and many other formal and informal celebrations.
With the belief that simple and delicious food should be accessible to all, Mardy’s Kitchen was born.
Chef Mardy Ra aims to provide and cater to everyone by offering his take on a variety of products with unique and different flavours.
